Palmer River Grille

If you’re looking for a laid-back spot with hearty portions and classic comfort food, Palmer River Grille https://www.palmerrivergrille.com/ in Warren, Rhode Island is a great place to stop. With its casual atmosphere and menu that blends seafood favorites with familiar pub-style dishes, it is an easy choice for a relaxed night out.

I made a reservation for 6:15 and were seated promptly upon arrival, which was especially impressive considering how busy the restaurant was. The parking lot was packed when we arrived, a clear sign that Palmer River Grille is a popular spot for both locals and visitors.

Inside, the restaurant exudes coastal charm, featuring a soothing water fountain and a beautiful model sailboat, giving it a warm, nautical New England feel. Our server, Zac, was friendly and attentive without being overbearing, making the experience even more enjoyable.

The menu was quite extensive and it was not an easy decision on what I wanted to order. There were several apps I wanted to try but decided to go with the potato skins ($12). They were large, loaded with melted cheese and chunks of real bacon,

Jessica went with the Seafood Sauté ($33) and also enjoyed a cup of Clam Chowder ($7). The chowder was creamy, rich, and full of tender clams, a true New England classic, while her seafood sauté was packed with fresh, flavorful seafood, making it a standout choice for any seafood lover.

We started with the Potato Skins ($12) as an appetizer. I was assuming the skins would be small as in most places, but these were far from it! Out came four large skins with golden edges, fully melted cheese and crisp bacon…….we were off to a solid start! I ended up only eating two and bringing the others home and they were just as good the next day with a quick toss into the air fryer. 🙂

I ordered the Boneless Stuffed Chicken ($20) with mashed potatoes and I upgraded to fried green beans ($3 ). The stuffed chicken was HUGE—moist, generously stuffed, and utterly satisfying. Next to the chicken sat a generous mound of mashed potatoes whipped smoothly and completely smothered in rich gravy. The fried green beans were crispy and perfectly seasoned, adding a welcome crunch to the meal. I can see why Zak, our waiter said it was a guest favorite. A classic homestyle dish, with enough to take home for lunch.

Jessica, the seafood lover, ordered the Seafood Sauté ($33) and also enjoyed a cup of Clam Chowder ($7.00) as her starter.

Jessica’s cup of clam chowder was the perfect companion to her dinner choice. Thick and creamy, packed with tender clams and soft potatoes, it screamed classic New England comfort. The low lighting in the restaurant made it difficult to get clear pictures without using a flash, and we didn’t want to disturb the other diners which is why there are very few pictures.

The pasta was lightly coated in a buttery, garlic and white wine sauce that pooled at the bottom of the bowl. Nestled throughout the pasta were shrimp and beautifully seared sea scallops. Generous hunks of fresh lobster put a smile on Jessica’s face, and I knew this was a winner!

At this point we were both at our limit so we decided to skip dessert. Our total bill, with 2 soda’s came out to $87 ( not including tip) , a price that I felt was more than fair for the portion size and quality of the food.

As a side note, the sister restaurant to Palmer River is the Sakonnet River Grill, which offers that same quality of food for a reasonable price. Each offers something special, so we suggest trying both if you haven’t had the chance.

Oh, don’t forget to them that Two Girls Spooning sent you! 🙂

Happy Spooning!
