Tresca (Table 77)
If you’re a Bruins fan you might already know of Table 77 at Boston’s Tresca restaurant. I have had Tresca on my list for many years after seeing it on TV but every time I called to make a reservation they were booking about 4-6 months in advance. Once covid hit I had given up getting our chance at Table 77 until a few weeks ago when I was looking over my Two Girls restaurant list. Jessica decided to throw caution to the wind and called on a Tuesday night to see when they had an opening. By some stroke of luck they had a cancelation and we were booked for Saturday at 6:00. The excitement was palpable!
Two Girls Fun Fact: 77 was the jersey number of Bruins star Ray Bourque who is the owner of Tresca.
We absolutely love the vibe of Boston’s North End. The people watching, the smells, and of course the variety of restaurants and bakeries.
As you look at the pictures, it may become clear as to why Table 77 is in such high demand. Sitting on the second level of the restaurant, Table 77 is a private table with it’s own balcony and your own server. This setting would be perfect for celebrating an anniversary or special occasion…….we were there to celebrate how much we love food! 😉

Our water arrived at the table immediately, and we were greeted by our server to welcome us and take our drink order while we looked over the menu. I do want to add that upon booking the reservation you will have to purchase a $200 gift card ( or a $200 deposit if you will ) to be used at the restaurant. With that said, the entire gift card does NOT need to be used in one sitting. Anything not used will remain on the gift card for another visit.
Honestly we found it to be a fun challenge…how much food can we order for for $200?
For appetizers we chose The Chicken Parmesan Egg Rolls ( $15) and Arancini($15). The pan seared egg rolls had the perfect balance of chicken and cheese, Crispy on the outside and full of flavor on the inside! The pomodoro dipping sauce was the perfect flavor compliment to the egg rolls.
The egg rolls were firing on all cylinders, so we were excited to try the Arancini since neither of us had ever had one. I don’t know if all Arancini are this good but these crispy breaded rice balls with spinach, ground sausage, and mozzarella cheese were fantastic! As we were trying to determine which appetizer we liked best, we realized that we had a lot more food coming and we were already getting full. I should have worn elastic waist pants… LOL!

Keep in mind that our goal was to spend as much of the $200 as possible so for our entree’s Jessica ordered the Risotto di Capesante ($39) I went with the Chicken Piccata ($30), and we also ordered a Margherita Pizza($20). I apologize for the lack of clarity in the pictures but the sun was setting and the lighting made it tough to get good pictures.

My Piccata came with four good size pieces of chicken sitting a top of fresh made pasta in a delicately balanced lemon, garlic and white wine sauce. Chicken Piccata is one of my favorite meals and Tresca is at the top of my list! We shared a few slices of pizza, and truth be told, I would go to Tresca and just order a pizza! We both took home our leftovers and they were just as good the next day!
Jessica’s dish looked fantastic and she really enjoy it. I am not a fan of seafood so I didn’t try the scallops but the risotto was creamy, flavorful and cooked perfectly. At this point we were both full but figured if everything up until this point was great, we should probably take one for the team ( our readers) and choose a dessert. 🙂

Several desserts looked good but we both agreed that we wanted to try the Italian Donut Holes. ($12) Oh the donuts….cinnamon and sugar with vanilla gelato, crushed pistachios and drizzled with honey….need I say more???
The best explanation I can provide is that the donuts were similar to fried dough that you could get at a fair but round with a light fluffy texture. If you’re like me and enjoy something sweet after dinner, these little balls of heaven are perfect!
Now that we had completely overfilled ourselves, it was time for the bill. We knew we would be under the $200 and for what we ordered and both the quality and quantity we felt it was worth the wait. Keep in mind that we are not drinkers so had we ordered alcohol we would have gone over the $200.
Our final total with tip left us about $30 on the gift card to use for a future visit. As we walked out, I told Jessica that the next time we were in the area I would use the gift card to order a pizza to go because I enjoyed it that much!
Table 77 is a treat not only for the great views but for the food as well!
Can you go to Tresca and sit at a regular table? Yes, but if you want a upgraded experience call and make a reservation for Table 77, and keep in mind that you will need to call months in advance especially in the warmer months.
