Pine Meadow Farm
As our readers know, if there’s an animal that we can squeeze count us in! Our latest animal adventure would bring us to The Pine Meadow Farm in Mattapoisett Ma.
Somehow a post showed up on my Facebook page about the farm so of course I had to look into it a bit further. I was excited to read that they offer private tours of the farm AND you can hang out with Capybara’s! Ummmm….YES PLEASE!

Pine Meadow Farm is a small family farm that has been in the Alpaca industry for over 10 years. Over the years, Pine Meadow has evolved into an educational farm and they currently care for over 80 animals including; goats, sheep, cows, llamas, yaks, zebu, capybaras and much more!
Jessica and I booked a private tour of the farm on a Tuesday afternoon at 4:00 ( $100)
We met Lauren at the gate to the farm and began our 1 hour tour. It was feeding time as we started the tour so the Alpaca and Llamas were more interested in getting food than meeting us. Honestly, can you blame them??? As we walked through each area Lauren provided us with facts about each animal and explained that her family began the farm in Connecticut well over a decade ago. It was clear from our tour that the animals are well cared for and loved by her and her family. Lauren was also a great tour guide!
We loved feeding the goats and cows but I must admit, the wallaby’s and the Capybaras were our favorite! Oh and the Geoffery’s Cat. We didn’t get any pictures of him ( his name escapes me but I know it started with an M) because I think we were just so fascinated! He really looked like a domestic cat crossed with a tiger cat. Such an amazing animal!
Two Girls Fun Fact: The species is names after 19th-century French naturalist Étienne Geoffroy Saint-Hilaire.

We fed the oh so cute Wallaby’s ( very carefully…lol) and then walked over the Capybaras. We were so excited when Lauren said we be going in to feed and pet them! We sat down and let the brothers come to us. They were a bit shy at first but warmed up once they saw we had snacks and LOVED having scratchies! Who knew that Capybaras love a good scratch?? This was definitely a highlight for us and we didn’t want to leave.

As our tour was coming to an end Lauren informed us that they do have open barnyard days where you can go and meet many of the animals for $5 per person and that includes a feed cup. What a great way to support this special farm. 🙂 She also mentioned that they will be lighting up the farm this Christmas for the second year and that it promises to be bigger and better than the last! We definitely want to check it out and get into the Holiday spirit!
Here’s a link to their website as well as their Facebook page where you can follow them and future farm events.//www.pinemeadowalpacas.com /www.facebook.com/pinemeadowalpacas/

This may be a small family farm but they have a big heart! If you don’t want to do a private tour, follow them on Facebook and take advantage of one of their open barn days. We know you will enjoy it!
